Jake Owen 'Endless Summer' Extends Season of Fun
Though school is starting and summer might be winding down, leave it to Jake Owen to keep the good times rolling with new music. On Sept. 25, RCA Records will release Endless Summer, a four-song EP of new tunes with a summertime feel.
"It's been almost a year since our album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, came out," Jake says. "I started thinking that I really wanted to put out a few new tunes that had a summer vibe. So, we decided to cut four songs and put out an EP entitled Endless Summer. No one ever really wants the summer to end, right? Hopefully, these songs will be ones that keep the party going into the fall and people will crank them up loud when they are out on the water enjoying their own endless summer."
Jake's fans first learned of his plans when he announced the project during his fan club party during CMA Music Fest and gave attendees a preview of the EP by playing the new song "Summer Jam," which was written by veteran hitmaker Craig Wiseman (Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying," Brooks & Dunn's "Believe") and hot new duo Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley.
In recording the new songs, Jake earns his first executive producer credit, and as far as getting in the trenches in the studio to record the new project, he again turned to Joey Moi, who produced the No. 1 hit singles "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and "Alone With You," as well as his current single "The One That Got Away."
