2012 CMA Music Festival Boasts Legendary Lineup
Even more big names have been added to the 2012 CMA Music Festival lineup ... really big names. Glen Campbell, Ronnie Milsap and Kenny Rogers will all play at downtown Nashville's LP Field during this summer's star-studded event, along with the Mavericks, who are reuniting after almost a decade apart, just in time for Music Fest. The four legendary acts will take turns opening the big shows: Glen on Thursday, June 7; Ronnie on Friday, June 8; Kenny on Saturday, June 9; and the Mavericks on Sunday, June 10. (See the full lineup for each show below.)
CMA Music Fest includes the nightly shows at LP Field, along with daily shows at the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage, autograph signings at the Nashville Convention Center, and dozens of family-friendly activities scattered through the blocks of downtown Nashville's lower Broadway area. Highlights from CMA Music Fest will be filmed for an ABC TV special to air later this summer.
Last year, the CMA Music Festival drew a record 65,000 fans to Music City, from all 50 states and 26 countries. According to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, those fans spent more than $30 million in the city, making the annual event a huge economy booster for Nashville.
Tickets for CMA Music Fest are on sale through Ticketmaster or by calling 1-800-CMA-FEST (262-3378). The nightly show tickets are $40 each (plus handling fees), and the four-day ticket packages range from $115 to $325, with half of the net proceeds going to a great cause: the Keep the Music Playing program, which provides instruments and other supplies to public schools. To date, the CMA has raised more than $4.7 million for the program. Part of the event's proceeds will also go to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's Words
