A little rain couldn't prevent friends and fans from flocking to the Nashville Rescue Mission Tuesday, November 23, to support Tracy Lawrence and his annual Mission Possible Turkey Fry event. For the fifth straight year, Tracy raised money and awareness -- and cooked up dozens of deep-fried turkeys -- to ensure homeless people in middle Tennessee get a Thanksgiving meal to remember.
"This event started off real small, just for friends and family, but over the years it's spread to be a great event of people gathering to help each other out," Tracy tells The Boot. "People enjoy the fellowship and the camaraderie of it. It's something that really drives a lot of awareness to the mission. It brings a lot of folks food and a lot of other things throughout the year. It's great to find something unique and different to be a part of. We were a little late getting started today because of the weather, but we still had a lot of folks here first thing this morning getting soaking wet and putting things together."
