Singer Darlene Love had a heart attack over the weekend without even realizing what was happening.
As WCBSFM reports, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was about to perform at Tim McLoone's in Asbury Park, N.J., when she started experiencing stomach pains and acid reflux. She did the show after her husband gave her aspirin, but the pain got worse the following day.
When she couldn't bear it any longer, Love was rushed to the hospital where doctors informed her that she had a heart attack. If she hadn't sought treatment then, she would have died.
"We caught it before it got bad and I went in and had the procedure done," Love told WCBS' Dan Taylor following her two-day hospital stat. "I'm home ... and doing fine. They told me I'd be fine in a couple of days. I can go back to my regular routine."
Love, whose 71st birthday is today (July 26), should be back to performing soon, barring any setbacks. Aside from her music career, which produced the hits "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" and "He's a Rebel," Love also played Danny Glover's wife in all four "Lethal Weapon" films. Here's wishing her a speedy recovery, and a happy birthday.
