Late July and early August in the heart of summer is also the heart of the music festival season. Heck, in the next couple weeks we've got Lollapalooza, Newport Folk Festival, Gathering of the Juggalos and something called Nerdapalooza in Orlando, Florida.

There's no doubt that some of the bands (and fans) at these events will make history in one way or another. We know this because history has shown it to happen in the past.

Like at the Watkins Glen Summer Jam in 1973, or at Woodstock 1999.

To find out why these festival dates, along with the likes of Aretha Franklin, George Michael and Mick Jagger made history this week, just click to launch the gallery below.
