Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler had plenty to say at his band's headlining performance last night on the Plains of Abraham at the Festival d'été de Québec.
He had a teleprompter continually feeding him lyrics, a few sycophantic french words written on papers that were taped to the floor in front of the stage and tons of effusive praise for his fellow bandmates and the 100,000 or so attendants throughout the night.
But Tyler did keep his otherwise flapping lips shut about one thing: the announcement he made earlier in the day about leaving his judging post on singing competition and sinking ship "American Idol" after just two forgettable seasons.
"I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress 'American Idol' before she boils my rabbit," he said in a press release, before reiterating that his band -- who will be releasing their 15th album Music from Another Dimension! Nov. 6 -- remains priority number one.
Judging by the acrobatics and still impressive pipes he displayed in Quebec last night, it's probably a good idea for Aerosmith to tour extensively while they still can. And as he probably discussed with fellow departing American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, it's best to leave the Costa Concordia of reality television with your reputation intact and a new generation of fans in tow before it's just you and Randy Jackson fighting for the last spot on the lifeboat.
