The answer to Pink Floyd's question "Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?" has been definitively answered. Yes.
While Roger Waters will sing about said bombs in "Goodbye Blue Sky" and "Mother" as part of The Wall world tour this year, one of those actual bombs was found underneath David Gilmour's home last week.
The Pink Floyd guitarist and his wife were forced to leave their East Sussex mansion last Thursday (May 24) after a Second World War German bomb was found under their building site.
According to Classic Rock Magazine both Gilmour and Polly Samson left the area while a Royal Navy bomb disposal team was called in to safely remove the 150-centimetre pipe-shaped device. The home had been undergoing renovations when builders discovered the device.
"Well, this is exciting," Samson tweeted with a photo of the evacuated area. "We've all been evacuated because they've found a bomb under our building site!"
Later Samson tweeted, "They've taken away *our* bomb. Incendiary but missing the bit that makes it go bang."
On Friday Samson posted a twitpic of the rusted device "in thrilling close-up."
Gilmour made no mention of the incident on his official site. Aside from a one-off performance with Waters last year in London, Gilmour hasn't toured since his 2006 On an Island album was released.
