Sled Island 2012 Lineup: Feist, Thurston Moore, Hold Steady, Trust, CFCF and more
Feist, Thurston Moore and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks are amongst the 200-plus artists just announced for the fast-becoming-a-thing Sled Island Music and Arts Festival being held in Calgary, Alberta from June 20-23.
There'll be no shortage of underground heroes to attract former record store employees and campus radio DJs to the fest as Lou Barlow, Archers of Loaf, Timber Timbre, Nomeansno, Andrew W.K., the Hold Steady and the Sadies will all be playing.
Sled Island certainly won't just be for the music-was-better-when-types, though. There'll be a huge host of emerging bands taking part as well, including breakout performance art weirdoes Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, gloomy dance goths Trust, Peter Gabriel channelers CFCF and budding rock stars Young Empires.
There'll be a number of musical intrigues, as well. A reunited Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet should be exciting news for fans of Kids in the Hall, Nardwuar the Human Serviette's vehicle to sweat on people, the Evaporators, will be performing, as will the intriguingly named Cowpuncher and something called Aunty Panty.
The Sled Island fest takes place at a number of venues across Calgary each night. Festival passes are $199 with something called the Discovery Pass Plus costing $349 and an All Ages Pass costing $50.
