Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were left heartbroken on Friday evening (April 13) after five of their guitars were stolen from their Culver City, Calif., rehearsal space. News of the theft was posted on Petty's Facebook page, as was the promise of a $7,500 reward for the return of the instruments.

"Five guitars belonging to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have been stolen from the Soundstage in Culver City where they have been rehearsing for their US tour which will start next week," read a post on Petty's site.

According to the post, Petty's Gibson SG TV Junior 1965 (SN 318533) was among the instruments swiped. The post added if anybody had any information "on the whereabouts of these stolen guitars" to email StolenGuitars@TomPetty.com or contact Detective Grant at the Culver City Police Department at 310-253-6305.

Petty's Twitter account provided more updates during the evening, as the rocker added that there would be a "no questions asked REWARD for the return" of the instruments. He also thanked those who have spread the word of the robbery.

"Sometimes people make mistakes, but we'd like these back no questions asked" Petty tweeted.

"Whoever stole @tompetty's guitars, I hope your own conscience eats you alive," one follower tweeted. "Or the friends you brag to turn you in."

The band, which released its last studio album, Mojo, in 2010, begins its North American tour April 18 in Broomfield, Colo.
