Lollapalooza 2012 Lineup: Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Jack White Headlining
Lollapalooza's 2012 lineup has been announced and, as expected, its a doozy. First of all, the headliners are all to do with colors: The top-billed for are Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, Black Sabbath and Jack White.
Also making a big appearance at the festival will be EDM acts, who are being championed by festival progenitor Perry Farrell, and reflect a growing passion for the genre in the States. Among the electronic artists are Avicii, Justice, Calvin Harris, Kaskade and Bassnectar, as well as indie/electronic crossovers like M83, Passion Pit and the Weeknd.
"Well, dance music is a passion of Lollapalooza," Farrell told MTV News. "We have a stage called Perry's that became a tent, and I told them 'Don't put a tent on that thing, it's going to burst at the seams' ... and sure enough it has. We don't have a Perry's tent anymore; Perry's area, however, is in the wide open, under the stars and the moon and you can dance amongst the trees."
Other big names include the Shins, Florence + the Machine, the Walkmen, Dum Dum Girls, Sharon Van Etten, Sigur Ros and At the Drive-In, who will be continuing their reunion after an 11-year hiatus.
This will be the 16th iteration of the festival, and the eighth year it has made its home in Chicago's Grant Park.
