Having recently released one of our favorite mixtapes (on an actual tape), and stellar remixes for the likes of The Rapture, Holy Ghost! and Princeton, Los Angeles disco/house duo Cosmic Kids have returned with a new mix CD, CK Phase 2, (on an actual CD).
The mix, which comes to us courtesy of Well Connected and Chit Chat Records, features a diverse range of artists, from In Flagranti and I:Cube to Arthur Russell and Dirty Beaches, with artwork by Cosmic Kids member Ron Poznansky's dad on the back jacket, and was put together specifically with a desert drive in mind.
"Well Connected approached us to make a mix for the drive down to Coachella," Cosmic Kids' Dan Terndrup explains. "We were pretty inspired by this idea because Coachella has become such a tradition for us, our friends, and thousands of others. It's the first real reminder each year that summer is coming. That in mind, we wanted to compile a mix of tracks that represent summer to us."
"We saw this as an opportunity to compile an accessible, eclectic mix of music with apparent shifts in energy and tempo. There is even an interlude we recorded on a drive through Malibu Canyon."
