Ever since highly celebrated rockers Band of Horses released their 2007 smash hit album 'Cease to Begin,' guitarist Tyler Ramsey has been there, strumming away with a simultaneous grit and finesse that makes the Seattle outfit's signature sound. Now Ramsey is again stepping out on his own for his third solo album, 'The Valley Wind.'
Written while on and off the road and recorded in Nashville, Ramsey's latest gives off shimmers of Sun Kill Moon frontman Mark Kozelek while demonstrating the finger-picking style of John Fahey.

Listen to 'the Nightbird'
"'The Nightbird' was the first song I wrote for 'The Valley Wind,' Ramsey tells Spinner. "It felt like the first sign of a new record coming, and set the tone for the rest of the songs to fall into place."
The song's beautiful arrangement, along with its spare instrumentation, yields a wintry calmness and a truly Americana sound. 'The Valley Wind' will hit record stores Sept. 27 via Fat Possum records followed by a North American tour starting at Asheville, N.C.'s Grey Eagle. Click the links below to pre-order the album.
