Few bands out there are as aptly named as Regina collective Rah Rah -- since releasing their sophomore album, 'Breaking Hearts,' last summer, the sextet have been busy building critical buzz and a loyal fan base for their infectiously effervescent indie pop.

Anyone who's seen their grin-inducing live show can attest to the band's fondness for creating a joyous racket (often aided by a well-placed piƱata, some candy, and a whole lotta confetti), something they've shared with audiences right around the globe over the past year, thanks to tours with Wintersleep and the Besnard Lakes. Their relentless touring schedule has found the band at major festivals across North America, including well-received showcases at SXSW and Canadian Music Week.

Despite being consistently on the road, Rah Rah managed to put out a few new tracks earlier this spring on 'The Sailors' EP, released on rapidly rising Hamilton label Hidden Pony Records (also home to Imaginary Cities and Said the Whale), which signed the band based on the strong word of mouth surrounding the group.

While the band waits for a break from touring to record the follow-up to 'Breaking Hearts,' listeners wanting to hear more from Rah Rah are in luck: a remix EP of reworked versions of tunes from that album is due this fall. The band's close pal Chris Graham, who goes under the handle 'Kitchen Party Music' for his remix projects, took several tracks from 'Breaking Hearts' and gave them a dance-y, electro spin that draws out the neon-bright quality of Rah Rah's cheerful melodies.
