Muppet Music Covered by My Morning Jacket, Andrew Bird and More
If a new Muppets movie wasn't enough, fans of the lovable gang will be pumped to learn that a collection of rock acts are geared up to release 'The Green Album' (no, not that "Green Album," though Weezer will make an appearance with Paramore's Hayley Williams).
'Muppets: The Green Album' will feature a handful of musicians, including My Morning Jacket, Andrew Bird, Sondre Lerche, Alkaline Trio and the Airborne Toxic Event, taking on covers of Muppet standards and will be released on Aug. 23.
The Muppets have long been fostered a relationship with popular music, recently covering Queen. That, paired with the new, Jason Segel-starring Muppet movie on the horizon (Nov. 23), spells a modern Muppet takeover that is primed and ready to go.
