Dance-pop group Scissor Sisters caused a joyous stir at the 2005 Brit Awards by performing 'Take Your Mama' with a horde of Jim Henson puppets. Now the group has been chosen to let their music play down at 'Fraggle Rock.'

According to MusicWeek, the group has been commissioned to create music for the upcoming Hollywood adaptation of the children's television show which ran from 1983 to 1987. The collaboration came to fruition after the band's American publisher Spirit Music signed an agreement with the Jim Henson Company.

"By working with [Henson] right from the start it means we can make music an integral part of the film," Spirit Music's managing director told MusicWeek.
"[We can make it] as important and as emotionally effective as the film-making."

The delightfully campy Scissor Sisters, who played Bonnaroo last weekend, have made no mention of the agreement on their Twitter site or their official site as of yet.

Perhaps the biggest question is whether the five band members will each embody the five main Fraggle characters (Gobo, Red, Boober, Wembley and Mokey), the small but focused Doozers or the giant Gorgs?

There's no word as to a possible release date for the film but sometime in 2012 is most likely. The film has had its problems getting off the ground as it was first announced in 2005 by The Jim Henson Company for a release in 2009. In 2007, KOCH Records released 'Fraggle Rockin': A Collection' featuring "remastered" versions of the three original Fraggle Rock albums. While the complete series collection featuring all 96 episodes was released on DVD in 2009.
