Suede to Headline 2011 Latitude Festival
The organisers of the Latitude festival have confirmed that reformed proto-Britpoppers Suede are to headline the three-day event. Also topping the bill on their respective nights will be the National and Paolo Nutini. Other acts booked to the play the festival are Paloma Faith, the Waterboys, Foals and Edwyn Collins.
The Latitude festival will take place on July 15 to 17 in Suffolk's Henham Park and will be Suede's first UK festival appearance since they reformed last year. Known as much for its emphasis on comedy, literature and theatre as it is music, Latitude will also see performances from comedians Greg Davies, Richard Herring, Phill Jupitas and Omid Djalili.
Latitude is a relative newcomer to the UK festival scene. Launched in 2006, it has grown in the last five years and has seen headline performances from the likes of Grace Jones and Pet Shop Boys. This year's marks a full circle for Paolo Nutini -- the Scottish singer was the very first act to open the festival when it kicked off six years ago.
Weekend tickets are on sale now from the Latitude festival website and are priced £170 ($272). While this is a year-on-year increase of £15 ($24), festival organisers have promised increased security, more toilet facilities, a larger arena and a greater investment in campsite facilities.
