Tenacious D Writing About Love, Sex and Food for Upcoming Album

Jack Black recently teamed up with his 'Gulliver's Travels' co-star Jason Segel for a cover of David Bowie and Bing Crosby's rendition of 'Little Drummer Boy.' Might we see the Jew-O, as Black dubbed the partnership, playing their brand of rocking comedy live?

"We need to work up a few more jams before we take this baby on the road," Black tells Spinner. "But [Segel] does have a lot of funny songs already in his arsenal. With the songs that he wrote for 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall,' he had some good Dracula jams. And I could bust out a few D songs, but I think Kyle might kill me in my sleep if we did that."

Kyle is of course Black's longtime musical partner, Kyle Gass, the other half of Tenacious D. Fans will be relieved to hear that even though Black has been playing around a little on the side, the D is still going strong with a new album on the way. "We're in the middle of recording it. We're about halfway through the writing process. We need another few months," Black says. "But you can look for it at the end of 2011."

As D fans ourselves we're definitely psyched, but we're wondering how they can top previous work. This is, after all, the band that recorded the self-proclaimed 'Greatest Song in the World' (aka 'Tribute'). Black promises songs everybody can identify with this time around. "We're gonna be talking about love, there are gonna be some songs about sex and there's gonna be songs about food," he says.
