Siouxsie Sioux: 1980s New Wave Fashion Pioneer
Karen O:
Current-Day Indie Art-Punk Style Queen

How History Repeats Itself: Every generation needs a dramatic, moody misfit queen to look up to, and Siouxsie Sioux and Karen O have capably occupied that role for their respective fiefdoms of punky, creative youth. Assisted by a capable right-hand man – Budgie in Banshee-land, Nick Zinner for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs – O and Sioux married the saw-toothed ferocity of punk rock to searingly beautiful melodies, establishing themselves as take-no-prisoners frontwomen who could own the stage with the same icy-cool energy as the garage rock boys' club. And thanks to their individual edgy, unique looks, each woman became a subcultural fashion icon for her era.
