Scissor Sisters Hope for an Ian McKellen Cameo at Glastonbury

June 21st 2010 11:00AM

Later this week, the Scissor Sisters will hit the stage at Britain's Glastonbury festival, and if he's free, they wouldn't mind an onstage visit from Sir Ian McKellen.

The famed actor is featured on the band's upcoming third album, 'Night Work,' on the club-friendly single 'Invisible Light,' and singer Ana Matronic says it would be fabulous if he turned up to one of their live dates.

"I.Would.Die!" she tells Spinner. "I would die to have him up there."

McKellen recorded a 'Thriller'-esque Vincent Price-style vocal on 'Invisible Light,' which happened after Scissor Sisters main man Jake Shears and axeman Babydaddy visited him in the theater district on London while recording the album.

"Jake and Babydaddy wrote the words that he speaks and they went down to his dressing room," Matronic explains. "He was doing 'Waiting for Godot' with Patrick Stewart at the time and they went into his dressing room with recording equipment and recorded him doing it. And he nailed it in one take."

Now, Matronic believes that McKellen could easily fit in at a big music festival.

"For sure. I'm sure," she says. "I mean, I met him at LiveAid the first time. He was backstage at the concert hanging out with everybody, so I think that he's a good time Charlie. He could get into it."

With the Scissor Sisters known for their colorful costumes, Matronic has an equally impressive one in mind for the 'Lord of the Rings' star if he does ever decide to join them.

"Get him a wizard costume made out of rubber," she laughs.
