She and Him Cast Their Spell at Bonnaroo
As She and Him's Bonnaroo set came to a close, the band didn't have too many options left for an encore. M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel had already played a good portion of their songs from their two critically-acclaimed albums, 'Volume One' and 'Volume Two.'
Already known for covering songs like the Beatles' 'I Should've Known Better' and the Miracles' 'You've Really Got a Hold on Me,' the duo went the '50s blues-rock route with their rendition of 'Roll Over Beethoven,' with Ward taking over for lead singing duties for Chuck Berry's 1956 hit. Then Deschanel covered Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 'I Put a Spell on You' to close the set.
For an individual who has already established herself as an actress, Deschanel continues to amaze with her on-again, off-again foray into music. Her time playing Bonnaroo certainly proved that.
