Scissor Sisters Single 'Should Be England World Cup Song' Says Jake Shears
Scissor Sisters' frontman Jake Shears has outed himself as an unlikely football fan -- and reckons new single 'Fire With Fire' should be the England squad's World Cup anthem.
Talking to Spinner ahead of the release of the band's third album 'Night Work,' Shears also reveals that the single will feature on the new 'FIFA Football' video game, 'FIFA 11,' which comes out in October.
Shears says, "I'm supporting England, of course. Our single 'Fire with Fire' is a great sports anthem actually, I hope the England team adopt it, it could really fire them up to win!"
He adds, "I'm completely and utterly braindead with sports though, I don't understand them and I can never figure out what's going on. But the World Cup is a really unifying event, and the men are incredibly hot! I love seeing the football players' big old rear ends."
As for the song being on the new FIFA game, Jake confesses that he and bandmate Babydaddy are massive video games fans, so they're thrilled the track is being featured.
He tells Spinner, "We're major gamers! There's not too many gay gamers out there though."
'Fire With Fire' comes out on June 20, with the album 'Night Work' following on June 28 in the UK and June 29 in the US.
