OutKast Set for Long-Awaited Return

April 14th 2010 8:30AM

OutKast have revealed that they are set to return with their first new material for four years.

The hip-hop duo of Andre 3000 and Big Boi (aka Andre Benjamin and Antwan Patton) last worked together on the soundtrack to their movie project 'Idlewild,' alongside Ving Rhames, Macy Gray and Patti Labelle.

Talking to BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe about the forthcoming album, Big Boi said, "That's all top secret information right now. We can't let people know what we're doing. You better know that something is brewing."

Big Boi, one half of an act who scored a massive global success with the 2003 double album 'Speakerboxxx/The Love Below' and hit track 'Hey Ya!,' is also set to release a solo album, 'Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty,' this summer.
According to Big Boi, he has already shot five videos for the long-overdue album and has plans to make a film for every song. One of them, 'Fo Yo Sorrows,' featuring funk legend George Clinton, was posted on YouTube last month.

Talking about what to expect from his solo album, Big Boi said, "Albums are like time capsules that capture the essence of what's happening in our lives. It's just talking about my life, and what's been going on. It's all funk-based."

He also confirmed that Andre 3000 has contributed to the album. "He's on the record," he told Lowe. "He makes two appearances. He also produced a track on it that's crazy, bananas, one of the last songs I'm recording right now. There are a lot of surprises on it."
