Flaming Lips, Widespread Panic, Drive-By Truckers Anchor Forecastle 2010

March 31st 2010 10:07PM

The Flaming Lips (pictured), Widespread Panic, Drive-By Truckers, Spoon and Bassnectar will anchor the 9th Annual Forecastle festival in Louisville, Ky. during the weekend of July 9-11. A large part of the appeal this year will also be its location in the city's scenic Waterfront Park.

Similar to Rothbury (which, as previously reported, is currently on hiatus), Forecastle flaunts a strong emphasis on art and activism -- and has proven an impressive outlet for both -- while obviously focusing on live music as its main attraction. In addition to the above acts, this year's lineup includes Minus the Bear, the New Deal, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Dar Williams and Break Science.

Since its beginnings as a local music showcase one summer afternoon in 2002, the event has continually expanded in scope and size, earning numerous rewards in its class. More than 60 additional artists, including some major ones, will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
