Florence and the Machine to Tour North America

January 28th 2010 7:11AM

Having conquered the UK charts with their debut album, 'Lungs,' and picked up Brit Award nominations for Best British Breakthrough Artist, Best Female Artist and Best Album as well as three nods in this year's NME Awards, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Florence and the Machine were about to take a well-earned break.

Not so as Florence Welch and her cohorts have announced that they're to embark on a short, five-date tour of North America that takes in New York, Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver and Seattle. Then, with those dates well and truly in the bag, Florence and the Machine will then head over to the Coachella festival in California which this year will feature headline performances from Jay-Z, Gorillaz and Them Crooked Vultures.

The details of Florence and the Machine's North Amercan jaunt are:

New York Terminal 5, New York (Apr. 9)
Toronto Phoenix Concert Theatre, Canada (Apr. 10)
House of Blues, Chicago, Ill. (Apr. 12)
Vancouver Commodore Ballroom, Canada (Apr. 14)
Showbox at the Market, Seattle, Wash. (Apr. 15)
Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, Calif. (Apr. 18)
