Monsters of Folk Not Working on Another Album

January 8th 2010 1:45PM

Earlier, Spinner and other news sites reported that the Monsters of Folk were working on their second album. The announcement came from a Twitter account that was purportedly run by band member Conor Oberst.

Unfortunately, representatives for the band told Spinner that the account was a fake. Therefore, the announcement about a second album by the supergroup, which also includes Mike Mogis, M. Ward and My Morning Jacket's Jim James, is also a lie.

We apologize to any MOF fans who might have been excited about this news. Though we don't know of any actual plans for the group to record a follow-up to their self-titled debut, we do know that Oberst and Mogis are working on a new Bright Eyes album, James started his own record label and Ward has reteamed with Zooey Deschanel for She and Him's 'Volume II.' No lie.
