Lady Gaga Fame Fragrance Ad: Singer's New Promo Inspired by Madonna?
After unveiling her first, predictably brow-raising advertisement for her debut fragrance, Fame, just a couple of weeks ago, Lady Gaga has shared the new promo photo for the perfume. Mother Monster tweeted a link to the new ad, which she posted on her social media site Littlemonsters.com. We can't help but mention that the image reminds us of a certain pop icon whom Gaga may or may not be feuding with.
The fashion icon's sleek and sexy ad for the first-ever black eau de parfum was styled by Brandon Vance and shot by Gaga's "Alejandro" video director, Steven Klein. The head-to-toe black latex bodysuit and dark lips, as well as the play with the mirror image, are reminiscent of Madonna in her "Human Nature" music video. Check out a couple of screen shots from Madge's 1995 visuals below.
This wouldn't be the first time we've seen Madonna's influence in Mother Monster's work. The two pop stars are currently in a bit of a war of words concerning Madge's persistent accusations that Gaga's "Born This Way" borrows heavily from her own 1989 classic, "Express Yourself."
The ad's photographer has actually worked quite extensively with Madonna. Madge was the subject of Klein's 2003 photo and video instillation "X-STaTIC PRO=CeSS," and Klein created backdrop videos for several of the singer's tours and contributed to many of her magazine photo shoots.
