Adam Lambert, 'American Idol' Judge? Former Contestant Favored for Reality-Competition Gig

Amid uncertainty about the future "American Idol" judges' panel lineup, new reports reveal the hit reality competition show may look to one of its own to critique upcoming contestants. According to E!, Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert is at the top of the list of potential new "Idol" judges!

"They have been talking about Adam for over a month," a source tells E! News. "He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him."

As current judge Jennifer Lopez debates her return to the show for its forthcoming 12th season, show producer Nigel Lythgoe says, "Everything is up in the air ... There will be changes for sure, but nothing that stops it from what it is, which is an out and out talent show." The shakeup means both Steven Tyler and the only remaining original "Idol" judge, Randy Jackson, may be getting the boot, too.



"Randy is great, but he's part of the old 'Idol'," an insider said. "They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look, and for that reason he may well not be part of the new line up." And as for the Aerosmith frontman, "All up in the air. We shall see," another source said.

Of course "Idol" wants Glambert for the gig! He'd bring some much-needed pizazz to the party, possibly encourage a younger demographic to tune in as the youngest panel member to date by a long shot, and would certainly make headlines as the
