Katy Perry says she needs to let her "heart heal," and she's got just the remedy in mind. Following the release of "Katy Perry: Part of Me," the 3D film she unveils next month, the pop superstar will take an extended break from the business, the U.K.'s Mirror newspaper reports.
The hiatus comes on the heels of her highly public divorce from British comic Russell Brand. In a recent interview with "Extra," the Mirror says, Perry cited career demands as the main reason for the split.
"For a modern woman, it is important to be supported and that there is equality in every aspect," she said, adding that she's "absolutely not" afraid of falling in love again.
Perry says "Part of Me" is "about overcoming obstacles, overcoming my family, my set of rules and belief system," and in the film, the 27-year-old singer is evidently shown curled in a ball and crying over the dissolution of her marriage.
As for whether she regrets tying the knot -- something people always ask her about -- Perry says she doesn't.
"Actually it's really a lesson learned and it's super valuable, I could not buy this lesson," she said. "And I apply it to my life, I learn and a lot of the time, I get really good material for my songs."
