Russell Brand may have been the one who filed for divorce from Katy Perry back in December 2011 -- allegedly taking his wife of just 14 months by total surprise -- but Brand claims he still loves Katy. The comedian/actor opened up about his ex during an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this morning (May 17).
"I still love her as a human being," Brand said. "But, sometimes when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything." Since the split, Russell, 36, has enjoyed multiple flings, while Katy, 27, was recently spotted rebounding with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd. And just last week, Russell finally decided to un-follow his ex on Twitter.
However short lived their union was, Russell insists he has no regrets about settling down with the pop star. "I was very happy to be married with her," he revealed. "She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her. You can't absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life. Sometimes thing are just different and then you to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and each other with any situation."
In addition to his kind words for Katy, Brand managed to charm frequent "Ellen" guests (and tutu-lovers) Sophia Grace and Rosie. The rapping and singing tykes bonded with Brand over their mutual hometown of Essex, England. Watch a clip from their adorable interview with Ellen below!
