Both Amber Riley and her 'Glee' character Mercedes have always been comfortable and confident in their fuller figures. But on a recent red carpet, Riley revealed a newly slimmed-down figure! "I've always been comfortable with my size," Riley told PEOPLE, "I just decided it was time to get healthy." The actress/singer embarked on a weight-loss journey and has already lost two dress sizes!
All eyes were on 26-year-old Amber's slimmer silhouette when she stepped out in a blue sequin Theia gown for NAACP Image Awards on Feb. 17 (above right). She told People she decided to turn her eating habits around last July (11) after facing chronic stomach pains. "I decided I was going to make a change and eat healthier," Riley explained. She cut out fast food and burgers that she said, "were attacking my stomach."
Seven months of diet and exercise later, Riley is happy to announce, "I dropped two dress sizes!" In addition to being healthier, Riley says getting ready for red carpet events is much more exciting now. "I'm a lot more comfortable in dresses, especially gowns," she said.
On set, the 'Glee' star's trimmer figure has lead to some changes in the costume department, too. "We had to revamp the wardrobe. They bought a lot of new clothes for me and we have to take in a lot of my pants and dresses," Riley revealed.
Amber's beautiful at any size, but we're glad she's getting healthy -- go, girl!
