Sam Russell, the founder of the dating site 'Where White People Meet,' says he's not racist.

Why? Because he "dated a black woman once."

Russell told The Washington Post, "The last thing in the world I am is racist. I dated a black woman once. I helped raise a young black man ... I just believe it's hypocrisy to say 'one group can do this, but another can't.'"

The former used-car salesman says he and his wife simply want a slice of the soulmate business (a multi-billion dollar industry).

He explained to Fox 13, "What prompted the idea is I was at home a few months ago sick watching daytime television being bombarded with whereblackpeoplemeet.com, farmersonly.com, LDS Singles, Christian Mingle, you name it there were websites out there."

Russell, who lives in Utah, says his website allows anyone to join, regardless of race or ethnicity.

"It's that simple. It wasn't in any way shape or form based on racism or any of those types of things at all. We're not racist in the slightest bit."

While some are questioning the businessman's motives, the NAACP of Salt Lake City didn't find anything offensive about a site that is geared toward white people.

Speaking about one of Russell's billboards that recently went up in Utah, the spokeswoman for the NAACP branch said, "If it were some type of a hate group that was putting these billboards up, we would take a closer look at the actual target. But here we're seeing other advertisements for [dating services for] Black Singles, Farmers Singles, Religious Singles, LDS Singles, 50+Singles and others."
